Dear Supporter

The team at Life Changing have certainly been busy Butterflies these past two months.

The 2008 Life Changing Ball – A Carnivale Experience is well and truly on a roll.  Now in its fourth year, the annual Life Changing Ball continues to be a sell out event each year, a reflection of our rapid growth.  Last year’s brilliant event was no easy feat to match, however in true Life Changing style, we aim to exceed all expectations.  Promising breathtaking entertainment, brilliant themeing and loads of fun, I look forward to seeing you at this prestigious and inspiring event.

This month, we are pleased to launch our Butterfly Opportunity Program.  I am grateful for the donations by various individuals, businesses and institutions afforded to our Sisters for this Program. I’m continually inspired by the generosity of the Australian community in their support of my vision.

The announcement of our national expansion of the SISTER2sister Program prompted increased media attention, opening many doors and raising an awareness of our cause in the Australian community (and overseas!). Personally, it has been exciting to receive applications for both Big and Little Sisters from other states.

I’m also delighted to announce the expansion of the Life Changing team. Long time volunteer Louise Storie, has accepted the position of National Fundraising Event Manager for our Foundation. The key to our enormous success is having the right people on the bus and I can quietly boast that we do!

On the subject of amazing people, our program would not be where it is without the dedication and commitment of our Big Sisters. Despite their busy lives, these extraordinary women give their precious time to make a difference in the lives of our Little Sisters. Each outing, I witness the bonds between Big and Little Sisters growing stronger and each month I hold back tears of joy (sometimes not so well) when our Little Sisters share their challenges and proudly announce the wins achieved and obstacles that they have overcome.

At our March event, we decided to incorporate a session at the end of every event day called  “Butterfly Wins”, allowing our Big and Little sisters to share their achievements for the month with all the team.  Read more in the SISTER2sister News section and be inspired.  In the harsh reality of the lives of our Little Sisters, many of these achievements are significant, marking the beginning of a new path on their journey towards a positive and fulfilling life.

A huge thank you to our SASSI teams for their amazing efforts in raising the necessary funds for the SISTER2sister Program. We are thrilled to have formed our third SASSI team and welcome this dynamic team from ASX.

A special thanks to Vanessa Sales and Syd Sallivan with whom I work alongside each day. Their positive energy, enthusiasm and unbelievable dedication to achieve Life Changing goals, shine through in everything they do.

Lastly, thank you all for your continued support.  To our 2008 Little Sisters, we wish you a bright and beautiful future.

Kind Regards,

Events

Sistahood LaunchOur Foundation was proud to organise an extraordinary fundraising event for the launch of SISTAHOOD, a book written by Natalie Bassingthwaighte and her sister, Nicole Moore. On the 9th April, 500 young girls together with their parents converged at Coney Island, Luna Park for an afternoon of rides, nail painting, pink cupcakes, balloons and Garnier goody bags. There was high excitement as the girls, pretty in pink, lined up anxiously to have their books signed and photos taken with Natalie and Nicky.

SISTER2sister News

The 2008 SISTER2sister Program introduces an exciting segment in our monthly meetings, “Butterfly Wins”.  The aim is to provide further encouragement and motivation for our Little Sisters to achieve their goals.  Last month, a Big Sister along with her Little Sister spent their weekend attending a St Johns First Aid course. Why did the Big Sister do this?  Primarily to inspire and motivate her Little Sister to take steps towards achieving her goal of working in childcare. This is what mentoring is all about.  Read on and be inspired by other Little Sisters' recent “Butterfly Wins”

“Mint is a technological breakthrough and the logical solution to fundraising.”  Jessica Brown, Founder and CEO Life Changing Experiences Foundation

We are grateful to Mint Wireless for donating their services in support of our Foundation.  Mint portable payment solution runs on a BlackBerry or Windows Mobile PDA phone and allows a business to accept and record payments including credit cards.  The result is faster processing of donations at key events enabling us to focus on what we do best - inspiring and encouraging young people to reach their full potential.
