Events

Our Foundation was proud to organise an extraordinary fundraising event for the launch of SISTAHOOD, a book written by Natalie Bassingthwaighte and her sister, Nicole Moore.  On the 9th April, 500 young girls together with their parents converged at Coney Island, Luna Park for an afternoon of rides, nail painting, pink cupcakes, balloons and Garnier goody bags.  There was high excitement as the girls, pretty in pink, lined up anxiously to have their books signed and photos taken with Natalie and Nicky.

Our Little Sisters well and truly stepped out of their comfort zones and were our honourary MCs for the event. We are extremely proud of them and how far they have come.  Thank you to our sponsors and volunteers, many of whom are past and current Team Leaders and Big Sister Mentors, they are all truly remarkable women.  Over $4000 was raised at this event, a brilliant result.  We extend our thanks to ABC Books for putting us in touch with Natalie and Nicky, and are grateful to be their chosen charity to benefit from a percentage of royalties from every book sold.

Accolades and Achievements

• Jessica Brown spoke at the Zonta International Woman’s Day breakfast on 7 March on the subject of Empowering Women and won the Zonta Women of Achievement award. Click here for photos

• Jessica Brown was nominated for the ABN (Australian Business Women’s Network Community Leader Award) and for the Harvard Non Profit Scholarship for Senior Leaders.

• Jessica Brown has been entered in the inaugural edition of Who’s Who of NSW 2008.

• Life Changing was selected by FICAP (Finance Industry Charitable Organisation) along with Young Care Australia to benefit from their fundraising event held on 12 March.  $120,000 was raised on the evening to be shared by the two charities.
   

Staff News

We are excited to welcome on board Louise Storie as National Fundraising Events Manager. She will be responsible for managing the SASSI Fundraising teams, fundraising events and opportunities for Life Changing Experiences Foundation.
