SISTER2sister Program launches in Victoria! Cocktail launch event at the Meerkat Room, Werribee Zoo on 9 September 2008. Click here |

Welcome to the August/September 2008 edition of the Life Changing Experiences Foundation newsletter.
With all the excitement of the Olympics, like many of the medal winners, the Foundation too is celebrating several successes at the end of a marathon of planning and lots of hard work.
Life Changing Experiences Foundation celebrates its 5th anniversary in September 2008. I cannot believe how far we have come in those five years and this is a perfect opportunity to gratefully acknowledge the amazing volunteers who have shared those years with the Foundation, given their time to mentor at risk teenage girls, and supported us financially with services and/or contributions. It has been my privilege to share this vision with so many and with your ongoing support, I truly look forward to making our vision a household name around Australia.
We have finally appointed a National Program Director for the SISTER2sister Program. Valued team psychologist and program evaluator, Debra Pamula, accepted the role and we are truly excited to have her on board in this key position. We look forward to the growth of the program nationally under her guidance.
Having run the SISTER2sister Program for five successful years in Sydney, we are launching the SISTER2sister Program nationally starting with Melbourne, on our 5th Anniversary. The program will be launched at a cocktail event at the Werribee Zoo, with the support of the Wyndham City Council and the presence of several local dignitaries and business professionals. We are constantly creating new supporting relationships with corporations and businesses in communities around Australia, and with their assistance, we look forward to taking the proven benefits of the program to at risk teenage girls in Victoria and nationally.
Little Sisters in these past months have been equally outstanding in their achievements. You will see some of their exceptional artwork in the SISTER2sister news section. At a personal level, they have made changes for the better, have topped their classes in subjects they thought they never would, resisted the need to use violence to resolve issues, have been Little Sister advocates and spoken publicly about the program, received merit awards for improved behaviour and have resisted peer pressure. I’m constantly inspired by the changes our Little Sisters are making, often in environments that do not nurture these changes.
The SASSI teams have set the bar high for this year raising over $78,000 in the last financial year. They are already actively fundraising. Keep up with our SASSI teams’ progress and read more about their amazing work and upcoming events in the SASSI section of our website.
Our recruitment drive for Big and Little Sisters for 2009 has begun. See our 2009 calendar to ensure you reserve the key dates in your diary. Nominations and applications are already being reviewed so hurry and get your applications in to be a part of this phenomenal nationwide movement of life changing experiences!
Kind Regards,

Jessica Brown

Welcome Debra Pamula
Debra Pamula has been on the SISTER2sister Executive Advisory Board for the last 3 years. The board is made up of psychologists who support the Big and Little Sisters in the program. Debra has also been responsible for managing the internal evaluation of the program as well as the evaluation required by the Government. She has been doing all of this with the Foundation while completing her PhD in Psychology at Macquarie University. We are excited to have her as our National Program Director

Rise Up Productions is currently preparing our first range of SASSI merchandise soon to be introduced in Sydney for sale. We thank Founder and Director, Bronwyn Darlington and are excited about the mutual support Life Changing Experiences Foundation and Rise Up Productions share.
The Rise Up Story
Rise Up Production started with a quest to find an ethical and sustainably made t-shirt. Bronwyn Darlington was working as a consultant to the mining industry and was frustrated by the lack of ethically produced t-shirt options for her teenage son.
In her search for an ethical and sustainable clothing supplier she was astonished to find how hard it was. She couldn't find a supply chain that met the standards that she believed were important, so she created her own.
