Meet our Sisters

Big Sister, Lisa Lubar, introduces us to her Little Sister, Sarah Tua-Nathan.

A JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES BEGINS WITH A SINGLE STEP

My Little Sister Sarah Tua-Nathan and I began our journey and took our first steps together at Boot camp. This beautiful girl and I seemed to be in step with each other straight away although naturally, our first steps were tentative. I had been so worried that she might not like me but we quickly discovered that we had many things in common and with each discovery Sarah would say to me, "that’s a sign!"

At dinner the first night, sitting across from each other, Sarah looked at me and asked," Are you happy with me?" I knew that this question revealed more than she realised but I had no hesitancy in responding, "Yes", before returning the same question to her. With that exchange we took a big step forward.

Sarah and I were comfortable with each other and conversation flowed easily. During the first activity, Corporate Challenges, I watched her intently and marvelled at her natural leadership instincts in a team situation.

With each activity we shared and with each passing day I gained more insight and was impressed with her inner beauty and what a thoughtful and considerate person she is.

Day by day I observed Sarah moving closer to the driver’s seat , inching her way forward from the very back of the bus where she had placed herself. She is learning to visualise herself as the person she wants to be!

I feel very honoured to be on this journey with Sarah and look forward to the steps ahead. Whether we take two steps forward and one back along the way, I am certain she will arrive at her destination, emerge from her cocoon, spread her wings and fly!
