NEWSFLASH The 2008 NSW Mental Health Consumer of the Year Award goes to… Congratulations Kaytlin! |

Dear Supporter,
Welcome to the October/November Life Changing Newsletter.
It is exciting to announce the relocation of the Foundation to its new offices in Surry Hills. We had a small office opening party to celebrate the phase of growth that is now being written in the history of the Foundation.
Lyndal Blom has come on board as the National Program Manager and Romina (Romi) has joined the Foundation as my PA and office administrative support, after we bid farewell to Vanessa who left us to join another charity up in the Newcastle area. With the complete team now in place, the Foundation is ready to forge new paths towards national expansion. Our long awaited Butterfly Bus has also joined the crew which will make it easier for us to ensure our Little Sisters get to the monthly events on time.
The Sydney program is almost at full capacity (50 Big and Little Sisters) and meeting our new group has renewed our enthusiasm for the service we provide to the ‘at risk’ Little Sisters - there are so many who need the steady role model they will have in our Big Sister mentors.
The Melbourne program was launched in Werribee in the company of esteemed guests such as Mayor Kim McAliney and Brooke Hanson. We have also recruited our first group of Big and Little Sisters in the Wyndham City council area which marks the first step in the national expansion of the SISTER2sister Program.
We are very proud to report the achievements of our Little Sister graduates: one gained early entry into university, one graduated from high school and one received the NSW Mental Health Consumer of the Year Award for her contribution to raising awareness on the issues of self harm in teenagers. I attended the graduation and award ceremonies and it was humbling to realise the big part that the SISTER2sister Program played in contributing to their achievements.
SASSI has been busy creating gifts with the launch of a range of Butterfly-wear which were designed and printed by Rise Up Productions, the sponsor featured in our last newsletter. I know just what I want for Christmas!
Finally, I’d like to congratulate all our 2008 Little Sisters who are graduating in November from the 2008 SISTER2sister Program. You will have seen their achievements in the past newsletters despite their challenging experiences throughout the year. We are very proud of how far they have come. Well done!
In these demanding times, where we are increasingly cost conscious, I would like to thank you all in particular for your support and generosity.
Kind regards,

Jessica Brown

Welcome Lyndal and Romi!
Lyndal Blom has been with the Foundation for four years, as a Big Sister and Team Leader. Given her commitment to the Foundation, it did not take long to convince her to join us as the National Program Manager.
Romina (Romi) joins Life Changing Experiences Foundation as Personal Assistant to the CEO, Jessica Brown.
Our Little Sisters’ vocal chords and endurance were tested at recent outings – a thrilling white water rafting adventure and an inspirational CD Recording session with singing sensation, Amy Pearson. Erina Clark, vocal instructor of Australian Idol fame, honed the girls’ singing abilities and inspired us all with a quote by Cyndi Lauper: “Reach beyond...strive for your higher purpose”.
