CD Recording

The career workshops gave the Little Sisters the chance to explore various career options just as many of the Little Sisters are starting to think about graduating from high school or gaining part-time jobs. Some of our Big Sisters shared their personal experiences about their career paths providing inspiration for the girls to focus on studying hard and following their dreams. The Australasian Beauty College kindly hosted us for the morning workshops and donated a ‘VIP card’ to all the Little and Big Sisters to gain hair and beauty services for the next 12 months – a big thank you to all involved at the College. A number of girls have enquired about applying for an apprenticeship through the College as a result of our visit, so we look forward to seeing their progress in future years. Following a picnic lunch in the park, it was time to warm up our vocal chords with Erina Clark (of Australian Idol) and Amy Pearson (Recording Artist). The excitement about recording our very own SISTER2sister song in a professional studio was palpable. Amy and Erina were a delight to work with and very patient with the girls.

 

Whitewater Rafting

We started out the day with workshops aimed at helping the girls deal effectively with conflict, grief and loss in their lives. As many of the girls have experienced some form of conflict, grief and/or loss in their lives, the sessions were well received and a timely help for them. In the afternoon it was time to get wet! Whilst the weather was quite cold, it didn’t deter the Little Sisters nor diminish their excitement for this outing. The smiles and squeals of delight were obvious signs that they had an absolutely amazing time! It was even voted as one of their favourite outings for the whole year.
