Dear Supporter,
Greetings to all our friends and Life Changing supporters,
We extend a warm welcome to Kathryn Eisman and Sarah Wilson who have officially accepted the role of ambassadors for our Foundation. Both of these lovely ladies have had first hand experience of our SISTER2sister Program, as Big Sister mentors in previous years. We are honoured to have such inspirational women to be the faces of our cause.
We congratulate our Patron and long term supporter Jacinta Tynan and her partner Liam Timms on the birth of their gorgeous new baby boy, "Jasper Jerome Pep Timms", born on the 14th of October. We look forward to meeting their new little bundle of joy.
This month, after much anticipation, we launched our very first Mentor for a Day program. It was an absolute success and a lot of fun for those involved. This is the first time we have engaged corporate employees utilising their annual volunteer day and we were delighted to be overwhelmed with applications to participate. Sincere thanks to the ANZ staff who gave up their day to positively impact the lives of ten very excited Little Sisters on the waiting list for next years SISTER2sister Program. Both mentors and mentees cooked up a storm in a Cooking Extravaganza, and had a taste (literally) of what it was like to be part of this “life changing” program. The bonding that took place in such a short time was heartwarming and it was great to know that the girls had taken away valuable cooking skills on a tight budget.
Many thanks to Our Big Kitchen for donating their kitchen for us to use.
Sydney Women’s Football Club, soon after, joined us for this program and put us to the test with our navigational skills with an orienteering exercise. There was a Mexican themed cook off, music and all and several great exercises in communication and healthy lifestyles that were prepared by the Sydney FC team. Their smiles were priceless and reminded us of why we do what we do. Thanks to Sydney Women’s Football Club for their extraordinary effort in making the day possible…I’m sure that the girls will not forget the inspirational speakers who shared their challenges in overcoming adversity.
We are proud to partner with Sphinxx, Australia’s leading women’s network, led by business leader and entrepreneur Jen Dalitz. Sphinxx also provides a mentoring program, giving working women the confidence and the competence to realise their full potential, so there is great synergy between both organisations. Sphinxx will be donating proceeds from a series of Sphinxx development days to the SISTER2sister program which is very exciting. We thank Jen and her team for their wonderful support.
For a second year in a row, I’ve had the pleasure of being on the harbour for the ASX Regatta, an annual event put on by the ASX Reuters Foundation, raising money for a range of wonderful causes including Life Changing Experiences Foundation. The weather was brilliant, and a great time was had by all. Many thanks to the ASX Routers Foundation team who coordinated this monumental event with great success.
This month, we’ve had great news on the funding front, as we made the charity shareholders list for Hunter Hall. Their support is greatly appreciated and we look forward to a long term relationship with them.
For our Big and Little Sisters, the end of the 2009 program is approaching as we prepare for Bridgeclimb (kindly sponsored by Sydney Water) and graduation. Although it is the end of the program, the celebration is really marking the beginning of the rest of our Little Sisters’ lives.
I am so very proud of our Little Butterflies as they prepare to spread their wings and fly.
Kind regards,

Jessica Brown |
