Why SASSI was formed
SASSI (Sisters Aiding SISTER2Sister Initiative) was formed to embrace a phenomenal group of professional women in Sydney’s Corporate and Business Community wishing to support the SISTER2sister Program. Each year Life Changing Experiences Foundation has an overwhelming number of applications for Big Sister Mentors, but unfortunately, we are limited by a lack of funding for the number accepted into each 12 month program.
Fortunately, fundraising opportunities in the wider community are abundant and SASSI was formed to embrace these opportunities by providing a vehicle to engage the amazing women (and men) who contact us daily wishing to help. This innovative and unique network opportunity costs nothing except your precious time, skill and “can do” attitude. Like the SISTER2sister Program, SASSI is a reflection of the wonderful people involved in our foundation.
About the SISTER2sister Program
The SISTER2sister Program is a 12 month mentoring and personal development program aiding teenage girls who have suffered/are suffering due to circumstances out of their control. This innovative and unique program provides them with support, inspiration and opportunity. Each girl (Little Sister) is matched with a successful women from the community who becomes a Big Sister Mentor and role model. Big Sister Mentors support their Little Sisters to overcome obstacles, set goals and focus on their bright future. The program starts with a 4 day Butterfly Bootcamp and is followed by monthly risk management workshops and Life Changing Experiences, all of which are attended by up to 50 Little Sisters and 50 Big Sister Mentors. Our professional training, highly structured program and strong support network is why our program is attractive to busy successful women. The results of the program are phenomenal; therefore we are committed to raise the necessary funds to ensure the continuation of this wonderful program.
Frequently asked questions
Who is eligible to join the SASSI Challenge?
- Corporations, businesses and workplaces
- Community groups such as Rotary and Schools
- Individuals
- Friends and families
- Females and males
How many members should I have on my team?
SASSI teams are generally a group of approximately 10 members who work together, but your SASSI team can be as big or small as you want it. The end result is that each SASSI team raises $10,000 by June 30th so the more help you can get the easier it will be to fundraise and hit your target! Although this is supporting a program that supports young women…there is no reason why male members can’t join in too.
How often do we meet and where?
It is entirely up to you how often you and your team want to meet. It is recommended that you set the dates for the year in advance so that you can give as much notice to your members as possible. You might like to meet more regularly at the beginning until your team leader has established and assigned roles and the team has set the fundraising calendar for the year. The venue for meetings is decided upon by the team.
How do we keep a track of how much money we have raised?
All monies raised need to be deposited through your Everyday Hero fundraising page. This will keep an accurate record of all monies donated and will process automatic tax receipts.
